Ranabaali Advance Booking: ₹8.5 Cr Worldwide Pre-Sales, ₹75 Cr Gross Needed for Hit, Word of Mouth Holds the Key

Vijay Deverakonda’s Ranabaali releases in theatres tomorrow, and its opening day advance bookings have closed at ₹8.5 Cr gross worldwide. The numbers are not huge, but with the Dasara holidays starting and a long festive run ahead, everything now depends on the talk from the first shows.

Ranabaali Day 1 Pre-Sales

  • Telangana: ₹2.32 Cr
  • Andhra Pradesh: ₹1.60 Cr
  • All India: ₹4.50 Cr
  • Overseas: ₹4.00 Cr
  • Worldwide: ₹8.50 Cr

The Telugu States Lead

The Telugu States account for ₹3.92 Cr of the ₹4.5 Cr India total, nearly 90 percent. Telangana leads with ₹2.32 Cr, with Hyderabad doing the heavy lifting, while Andhra Pradesh has contributed ₹1.6 Cr.

The film releases in five languages, but outside the Telugu States, pre-sales in India have been limited so far.

Overseas Nearly Matches India

Overseas is the standout. At ₹4 Cr, overseas pre-sales are almost equal to the entire India total. The USA, Vijay Deverakonda’s strongest market, has picked up sharply in the last few days, with premiere pre-sales growing about 70 percent in a single day earlier this week and overtaking Jailer 2’s Telugu version.

The Break-Even Target

Ranabaali’s worldwide break-even target stands at ₹40 Cr+ share. To reach that and be called a hit, the film needs to collect around ₹75 Cr gross worldwide.

That is a big target compared to the opening day pre-sales, which cover only a small part of it. The film cannot depend on its opening alone, and it will need a strong run over the coming days and weeks.

Why Break-Even Is Still Within Reach

Ranabaali has two big things going for it.

The first is the Dasara festival. The film releases right as the holidays begin, when families head to theatres in big numbers. The team’s decision not to increase ticket prices in the Telugu States, along with the U/A certificate, makes the film easy for families to watch.

The second is word of mouth. Jailer 2 has just shown how much positive talk can change a film’s fortunes, turning a modest pre-release start into a record-breaking first day. If Ranabaali receives positive talk from its first shows, the festival run can take it past break-even comfortably.

What Ranabaali Needs

The pre-release buzz for Ranabaali has been on the lower side, but it has been growing in the final days, helped by the pre-release event and Vijay’s fans meet. Director Rahul Sankrityan’s last film, Shyam Singha Roy, was loved for its emotional storytelling, and the U/A certificate has raised hopes that Ranabaali offers more than just action.

Ranabaali releases worldwide tomorrow, October 16, in Telugu, Hindi, Tamil, Malayalam and Kannada, with USA premieres tonight. The period action drama stars Vijay Deverakonda and Rashmika Mandanna, is produced by Mythri Movie Makers and has music by Ajay-Atul.
